When you are a new seller on eBay, you would want to take baby steps towards progressing with your online business. Keeping this in mind, eBay has designed the selling limits on every seller’s account.
The main intent of having limits is to aid you in getting familiar with eBay’s marketplace, setting up your sales for reputed sales history, learning how to keep your buyers satisfied and thereby set up strong base for your business. As your performance starts to show positive growth, your account may get an increased limit.
Remember – Every new seller has a Selling Limit and Zero Insertion Fee listing.

When we say “Selling Limits” – we are talking about “Account Based Limits”.
New sellers have a 10-item Selling Limit with a total value of $500 per month. This means that, during the month, you can sell no more than 10 items for an aggregate value of $500. This is the standard limit for all new eBay sellers.
The Selling Limit depends on what will be reached first — the number of listed items or the total sum of items in the active listings.
Example: You have created 2 listings on ebay.com:
1. Each item is counted in the listing
2. If you have at least one active listing by the end of the month, items in it will be taken into account in the Selling Limit for the next month
3. If you have reached your Selling Limit for a calendar month, you will not be able to create additional listings, raise prices or add items to your listing until one of the active listings ends or the first day of the next calendar month.

Two factors play an important role in being eligible for a selling limit increase:
It is therefore vital that you keep track of your Selling Performance in the Seller HUB or your Seller Dashboard. Your account is reviewed on a monthly basis. If you are getting close to your monthly limits, you will be notified by eBay.
Depending on your performance and sales volumes the selling limit will be automatically adjusted.
If you want to request a Selling Limit Increase, you can do so by clicking on “Request a limit increase” in your eBay account or the message sent by eBay.
Do keep in mind that a Selling Limit increase request can only be made when at least 30 days have passed since your previous increase.

As an eBay seller you are allocated a certain number of Zero Insertion Fee listings every month, depending on the eBay site chosen to list your item. Remember that the number of Zero Insertion Fee listings per month is not related to the account’s selling limit.
Let’s understand this with examples:
1. On eBay.com, every month you get up to 250* zero insertion fee listings. It means that no insertion fees will be charged for those listings. The insertion fee charge would only be applied if you exhaust the allocated free listings.
Suppose:
* This offer is only available on eBay.com site. On other eBay sites, a number of zero insertion fee listings may differ or be unavailable.
The number of Zero Insertion Fee listings cannot exceed your selling limit.
2. If your selling limit is 10 items / $500 per month, and you have 200 zero insertion fee listings, you still can’t list more than 10 items with a total value above $500 per month.
You can easily check on the number of zero insertion fee listings in your account under:
My eBay -> Activity -> Sell -> All Selling–> Seller HUB -> Overview Tab
Also, do bear in mind that Zero Insertion Fee listings means “no insertion fees” but other fees may be applicable e.g. Final Value Fees, Listing Upgrade Fees and Subscription Fees etc.

Then you can subscribe for an eBay store, based on your business requirements. eBay Store users have additional allotment of Zero Insertion Fee listings in addition to the above, which will vary basis the subscription level.
Selling Limits help new eBay sellers to avoid too many mistakes while taking their first steps on eBay. Further, Zero Insertion Fee Listing helps you to grow your business.
All eBay sellers have a certain Selling Limit. It means that, during the calendar month, you can list and/or sell up to a certain number of items for a total of a certain amount.
If you are registered on ebay.com, you receive 250 Zero Insertion Fee listings per month.
eBay will review your account every month and adjust your Selling Limits automatically based on your sales volume and the feedback you’ve received from buyers. However, you need to keep in mind that Selling Limits are unique for each selling account and there are various factors that may cause differing limits for each account.
If you’ve reached your monthly selling limit, you can request a Selling Limit increase and eBay will consider it. To request a Selling Limit increase:
You can always find your Selling Limit in Seller Hub; here’s how:
You’ll receive an allocation of Zero Insertion Fee listings every month. These enable you to list items for sale in many categories with no insertion fees, though other fees may still apply. You’ll only pay insertion fees after using up these listings. You won’t be charged an insertion fee if you still have an allotment of Zero Insertion Fee listings available in a given month. However, you still need to pay a Final Value Fee when your item sells. For more information click here.
